We are thrilled to announce the tentative lineup of speakers for the Bluegrass Community Bankers Association (BCBA) Annual Conference, set to take place from August 18-20 in beautiful Lexington, KY. Our outstanding list of speakers brings together industry experts, government officials, and thought leaders to share valuable insights and perspectives relevant to our community banking landscape.​

US Representative Andy Barr, United States Representative (KY)
We are delighted to welcome Representative Andy Barr, whose presence promises insights into legislative initiatives impacting community banks and the broader financial services landscape.​
Ann Renee Campbell
Ann Renee Campbell, CRCM has 15 years community banking experience in retail, credit, finance, operations, loan processing, internal audit manager, ending up as VP, Compliance and BSA Officer. She has spent the last eight years with Bankers Service Corporation auditing community banks, primarily focused on Compliance. Ann Renee enjoys spending time with family, reading, swimming, and Reese cups.
John Cox, Director of Government Affairs, Kentucky Chamber of Commerce
A native of Lexington, John Cox joined the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce in December 2019 as a manager of public affairs and was promoted to the role of director of public affairs in 2021. Beyond general business issues, John’s focus at the Chamber includes infrastructure, healthcare and Kentucky’s signature distilling and equine industries. Prior to joining the Kentucky Chamber, John served in the role of communications director for the Kentucky Tourism, Arts, and Heritage Cabinet (2018-2019) and for the Kentucky Senate Majority Caucus (2014-2018).
Matt Evans, President and CEO, Bankers Service Corporation​
Matt is the President and CEO of Bankers Service Corporation (BSC),
a company he helped envision and form in 1997. BSC is a bank auditing and consulting firm, located in Lexington. In addition to overseeing the daily operations of the company, he is involved in all aspects of the company, including loan review, compliance audit, internal audit, training, and client consulting.
​
Prior to joining BSC, Matt was a Commissioned Bank Examiner with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in the Lexington, Kentucky field office. Matt served as Examiner-in-Charge on numerous bank examinations. Matt started with the FDIC during the “S&L Bailout” era of problem banks. Matt is a 2004 graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He has served on the board of charitable organizations.

Matt earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance at EKU in 1991, Magna Cum Laude. Always a student advocate, Matt was the Vice President of the student body (1990-1991) and was active in his fraternity.
​
Matt is the Founder and Chairman of the EKU Evans Banking and Financial Services Program. The Banking Program has gained significant industry notoriety, providing the gold standard of recruiting opportunities for banks, as well as for regulatory agencies. He also serves on EKU’s Business Advisory Council, as was a member of EKU’s Foundation Board.”
Marni Rock Gibson, Commissioner, Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions (KDFI)​
Marni Gibson has almost twenty-five years of experience in the financial services sector and its regulation. After spending time in the industry, she joined the Securities Division of the Kentucky Department of Financial Institutions in 2009. While she focused much of her time on enforcement, Marni has held leadership positions in several areas and supervised all three divisions within the agency. Over the last fourteen years, Ms. Gibson has been named Securities Enforcement Manager, Depository Division Director, Securities Director/Administrator, and Deputy Commissioner. Currently, she is serving in the role of Commissioner and Securities Administrator.
During her time with the agency, Ms. Gibson has served on numerous national committees, project groups, and working groups across the financial services spectrum. Marni served three terms on the North American Securities Administrators Association (NASAA) Board of Directors. In September, she will begin the role of President Elect. She also serves on NASAA’s Finance and Audit Committee, Steering Committee (Vice-Chair), and representative to the Financial Banking Information Infrastructure Committee.
Julie Hanson, Senior Vice President, State Education Programs Independent Community Bankers of America
Ignite Your Learning Journey
Julie Hanson is Senior Vice President of State Education Programs for the Independent Community Bankers of America. Julie joined ICBA in 2011 and has been banks helping banks for over 30 years on topics including payments, treasury management, and product and client-relationship management.

In Julie's current role she works with the Council of Community Bank Association's leadership and staff to enrich and expand educational efforts for community bankers nation-wide.
​
Julie holds degrees in Economics and Political Science from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

Rehman Kahn, Cyber Risk: Insights from Rehman Khan, AVP Cyber Risk Control, Travelers​
Currently at Travelers, Rehman Khan is an Assistant Vice President on Cyber Risk Control. He oversees cyber risk assessments of current insured and new business prospects.
Rehman is an experienced security practitioner with experience spanning 15+ years and multiple industries.
He has played key roles in developing cyber capabilities for multiple major financial institutions, a major pharmaceutical, and the Dept. Of Defense.
His areas of interest are risk discovery, regulatory and internal compliance, and security program buildout & strategy.
Rehman has been a featured guest speaker and consultant at several regional and international cyber security conferences.
Scott Kimel, Vice President, First National Bankers Bank
Scott is a graduate of the University of South Florida and has worked for and with community banks in the investment area for the past 21 years. Scott was instrumental in developing FNBB’s partnership with ICBB, working primarily with community banks throughout the Commonwealth and West Virginia. He is married to Jenny and has two grown children.

Ted Lansdale, Management Liability Claims: Insights from Ted Lansdale, Managing Director & Counsel, Travelers​
Ted Lansdale serves as a Managing Director & Counsel on Travelers Bond & Specialty Insurance’s Management Liability First Party Claim team where manages a team of claim professional handling claims under the Financial Institution Bond and Travelers’ crime policy. He is a former manager of Travelers’ cyber claim team and previously handled a variety of management and professional liability claims. Prior to joining the insurance industry, Ted was associated with Morrison Mahoney, a Boston-based law firm, where he defended professional liability actions against a range of professionals including lawyers, accountants, and real estate professionals. Ted graduated with honors from New England School of Law where he was an editor of the New England Law Journal and holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colgate University.
Charles E. Potts is executive vice president and chief innovation officer for the Independent Community Bankers of America (ICBA). ​​
In this role Potts drives ICBA’s innovation initiatives, and financial technology strategies, working with ICBA leadership to develop impactful, value-added solutions that help community banks seize new market opportunities to meet customers’ evolving financial services’ needs.
​
Potts’ extensive experience in banking and financial service firms provided the background Potts needed to start, co-found or lead various fintech start-ups including digital banking, mobile engagement, financial management and payments providers. Many had successful exits via IPO’s or acquisition via strategic acquirers.
​
A frequent speaker at national trade shows and conferences, Potts previously served as executive managing director at First Performance Global, where he led international business and corporate development activities for its card-control and fraud alert platform. Before that he served as CEO for NetClarity, a start-up in the University of Florida’s Business Incubation Hub. Prior to ICBA, he worked at the Advanced Technology Development Center (ATDC), leading the fintech practice where he mentored startups as part of the Georgia Tech-based incubator.

Charles attended the Georgia Institute of Technology, did his graduate studies at Georgia State University in Atlanta and attended the Graduate School of Banking at LSU. Potts, an avid masters runner, cyclist and soccer fan, lives with his wife in Atlanta, GA. They have a daughter who recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a nationally ranked pole vaulter on the Track and Field team.
Shonda Sammons, Advocate Builders
With over 30 years of experience, Shonda Sammons works with employers and employees to provide coaching, guidance, and expertise to build brand advocates. Shonda takes a hands-on approach to gaining a thorough understanding of a company’s strategic and branding focus, fosters abilities in employees, and uncovers hidden advantages in a company’s existing workforce.
Shonda focuses on helping companies identify in-house talent, matching skill sets of employees to job responsibilities, evaluating recruitment efforts, and converting everyday order-takers into enterprising champions. She is also the author of a tracking program that offers the ability to manage advocate relationships and to track cross-sells and referrals company-wide.
James Sills, Independent Community Bankers Association (ICBA) Secretary
James H. Sills is secretary of the Independent Community Bankers of America® (ICBA), the only national organization that exclusively represents community banks.
He also serves as president and CEO of Mechanics and Farmers Bank in Durham, N.C.
Sills serves in many roles at ICBA. He is a member of the ICBA Executive Committee, board of directors and Federal Delegate Board. He also serves on ICBA’s Policy Development Committee and is Executive Committee liaison to the Consumer Financial Services and the Mutual Bank Council.
Active at the national level, Sills serves on the board for the National Bankers Association and is past chairman for the North Carolina Bankers Association. He also serves on the Federal Reserve Board of Richmond and chairs its Audit and Risk Committee. He currently serves on the Executive Committee and is the DEI chairman for the North Carolina State Chamber. In addition, he serves on the Board of Visitors for North Carolina Central University.
Sills has a Bachelor of Arts from Morehouse College, a master's degree in public administration from the University of Pittsburgh and he is also a graduate of the University of Wisconsin School of Banking.
